Focusrite’s Other Octopre MKII, Dynamic!

Posted In: NAMM '10, Recording

Focusrite has come out with a new DUO in theor Octopre Line of Digital Pre-Amps… We’ve already taken a look at one of them, the Octopre MKII, but lets take a look at it’s big brother, the Octopre MKII Dynamic!

The Octopre MKII Dynamic has most of the same features as the Octopre MKII, so lets not repeat ourselves.  Instead, take a look at the Octopre MKII on Audio Thru First… And now, the differences!

  • Compression on all 8 Channels
  • VCA Based Compression, Passed down from the Red Series
  • Single Knob Control
  • Knob +/- The Threshold, As well as the Gain Makeup.
  • Soft Knee Compressors with fixed 1.2 ms Attack and 28ms Release
  • Two Modes, Normal and “More”
    • Normal is 2:1 Compression Ratio
    • “More” is 4:1 Compression Ratio

Eight channels of compression, and all you really loose is the 2 XLR Inputs on the front pannel.  No biggie, I say.

All and all, this makes a great addition to the OctoPre Line… No word on pricing or availability just yet, but we can hope soon.
