Focusrite has announced a long awaited update to their trend setting Digital Mic Pres… The OctoPre MKII!

The OctoPre MKI was one of the first 8 channel digital mic pres and remains a standard in quality digital pre-amps…. But lets see what Focusrite has done with the OctoPre MKII

  • Eight Channels of Award-Winning PreAmps
  • Eight Channel 96 kHz 24 bit output via 2 light pipe outs
  • Also switchable 88.2, 48, and 44.1 kHz Outputs
  • In 44.1 Mode, the Two Light Pipe Outs are Mirrored to send the same signal two places
  • Pres are designed to handle heavy loads, with increased headroom and resistance to clipping
  • 5 LED Metering for All Channels
  • -10 dB Pads and Phantom Power on each Channel
  • Analog TRS Out on Each Channel
  • Word Clock In

This is looking up from the OctoPre MKI, with new pre-amps, a totally redefined user experience, better metering and actual TRS outputs instead of multi-pin.

The only feature that seems to be missing is the Comp/Limiters on the OctoPre MKII… but then again, do your really want to be using Comps or Limiters when tracking?  If you do… Check out the OctoPre MKII Dynamic!
