Nady Audio has recently expanded their Phantom Power Supply line and kicked it up a notch, with the SMPS-2 and SMPS-USB.
Now, I normally wouldn’t cover a Nady Product, but with it’s price point and swath of different uses, I couldn’t resist.
Let’s take a look…
Nady’s first offering in the Phantom Power Supply space was the SMPS-1X, and these two new products build upon their original 1 channel phantom power supply.
The SMPS-USB is a 1 channel phantom power supply with a little something extra… a USB audio interface included!
The USB portion is PC/Mac compatible… And there is an XLR In and Out.
The SMPS-2X is a dual channel 48v Phantom Power supply…. Two XLR In, 2 XLR out…
Construction
All of the SMPS line is powered by an 18V AC power, and puts out 48V DC Phantom Power… Metal Housing and touted low noise full-frequency response.
Uses
Live – Phantom Power supply AND interface for SMAART for 50 bucks? It may not be the flattest, or the best, but it is indeed the most affordable USB audio interface for SMAART to date.
Podcasting – Take any condenser microphone, power it, and bring it to your choice of recording software. Oh yea, have a cheap mixer or audio interface with no phantom power? Use the Dual Channel Phantom Power Supply to power your mics on the way to your computer. All this on a tiny budget.
Cost
As of now, here’s the pricing on these two units on GuitarCenter.com
